[KING]Kastle info

Welcome to the [KING] website. We're guys who like to play Half-Life deathmatch. While there are a couple of servers we really enjoy playing, we thought it would be fun to set up our own as well. This is the result of our effort and is called the Kastle.

The first Kastle was powered by an AMD K6-2 450mhz processor with 393 megs of RAM. It ran on an operating system written by some company in Redmond WA. It was decommissioned early in 2003.

The new Kastle II is powered by an Intel 1ghz processor with a gig of RAM and a 178/kbs connection to the Internet. Because of the relatively slow connection, the Kastle is limited to 5 players max, including a possible bot (which is actually set to quit if a real player joins). It runs the dedicated HL server software on version 7.1 of RedHat Linux (2.4 kernal).

We do not tolerate cheating and ban players who we think are doing so. This includes teaming!! The Kastle is a deathmatch server and teaming is only tolerated during officially sanctioned team events. This may not be the way it is elsewhere, but it's the way it is here, thankyouverymuch.

Also, and needless to say, we obviously consider the use of 133t w4r3z as grounds for immediate permanent banning.

We will also ban a player for being abusive, overly profane, racist or frankly, just because we don't like them. We don't tolerate llamas on the Kastle and assume the server will be respected, not abused. That said, let's be clear that we will not ban a player simply because they are better than us.

The Kastle is the first of our planned servers and as such, is also serving as a kind of test-bed while we work out which features and maps to include in future servers. If you encounter any problems or have a suggestion, please email them to king@pacifist.net

EXTRAS
The Kastle has a number of extras running on it:
  • We use HLGuard to detect cheaters.
  • Partial transparency for one second after spawning.
  • Tripmines can't be placed too close to spawn points.
  • Highlighted display of player names.
Our rotation of maps changes every day. We run a few standard maps, plus a lot of odd maps. On weekends we often run special map variations, such as lo-grav or maybe a new map test. If you don't have any of these maps, it's best to download them here first instead of doing it while in-game. Why? Because it's faster!

Our stats are generated by programs written by Dopey. They are currently in heavy development, with modifications often occuring daily. If there's a feature you really, really want, let us know. We can't promise it's inclusion, but we always want to know what info our players are looking for.
